The Namib desert is the oldest desert of the world (80 million years) and - after the Atacama Desert of Chile - the second driest desert of the world (10 mm of rain or less annually). Its dunes are among the highest of the world and it gives home to some endemic plants which are to be found nowhere else in the world.
